Getting started

  1. Sign in with Tesla, Google, or Apple.
  2. Connect your vehicle — Tesla (via the Tesla Fleet API), or a supported brand such as Rivian, Polestar, Ford, Volvo, or Lucid.
  3. Connect your solar system or energy monitor — a supported inverter (Enphase, SolarEdge, Fronius, Solarman, Growatt, or your Tesla energy site) or an energy monitor (Sense, Emporia Vue).
  4. Plug in. ampee reads your solar surplus every 30 seconds and adjusts your car's charge rate so you use your own solar instead of exporting it or drawing from the grid.

Frequently asked questions

Which vehicles are supported?

Tesla has full support. Rivian, Polestar, Ford, Volvo, and Lucid are also supported. Setting the charge rate on some non-Tesla vehicles may require a compatible smart charger (OCPP).

Which solar systems or energy monitors work?

Inverters: Enphase, SolarEdge, Fronius, Solarman (and compatible hybrids), Growatt, and Tesla energy sites. Energy monitors: Sense and Emporia Vue. A Sense monitor gives the fastest, most accurate real-time readings.

Why did charging pause or stop?

ampee charges from surplus solar. It pauses when solar drops below your minimum charge rate (clouds, evening), when your home battery has priority, or when you reach your SOC limit — and it resumes automatically when surplus returns. You'll get a notification explaining why; you can adjust these in Settings.

Charging won't start — what should I check?

Make sure the car is plugged in and ready to charge, that you have solar surplus above your minimum amps, that you haven't hit your solar SOC limit, and that the vehicle is still connected (Settings → Reconnect Tesla if needed).

How do I set charge limits, schedules, or a departure time?

In Settings, per vehicle: maximum/minimum amps, solar and grid SOC limits, a departure time with a target level, and schedules for fixed charging windows.

Can more than one person manage the same car?

Yes. A household can connect the same vehicle to multiple accounts; charging status and shared settings are visible to each connected account.

How do I delete my account and data?

In the app: Settings → Delete account → confirm. This permanently removes your account and all associated data. If you can't access the app, email hello@ampee.io from your account email address. See our Privacy Policy for details.
